Dr Nancy Allen

I am a Chester & North Wales based GP with over 25 years’ clinical experience, a British Menopause Society–certified menopause specialist, and a medical educator. I also bring lived experience to my work, having an inattentive ADHD brain myself. I have held senior roles across primary care, including GP partnerships and leadership positions, and have extensive experience in clinical governance, prescribing, safeguarding, and commissioning services at scale. Alongside clinical practice, I have worked as an NHS appraiser and have over a decade of experience teaching undergraduate medical students, examining at university level, and sitting on medical school admissions panels. My teaching has been formally recognised as excellent. My specialist interest sits at the intersection of ADHD, women’s health, and menopause—an area where symptoms are frequently missed, misattributed, or minimised. I am particularly focused on improving recognition of inattentive ADHD in women, especially during perimenopause and menopause, when cognitive and emotional symptoms often intensify or first become apparent. I combine evidence-based medicine with a compassionate, neuro-affirming approach and am committed to improving understanding, access to care, and long-term outcomes for adults with ADHD across the lifespan.
