Specialist ADHD Clinical Pharmacist

Job responsibilities

The Pharmacist is responsible for managing a case load of service users that have an established diagnosis and treatment plan for ADHD.


This role provides a unique opportunity to manage a caseload of patients (children, adolescents and adults) with ADHD, ideally working as an independent prescriber, to provide support and advice to patients, carers and families. You will work closely with the ADHD multidisciplinary team and provide specialist pharmacy advice and support to ensure safe, appropriate and clinically effective use of medicines in line with national guidance. 


An independent prescribing qualification is essential, and a relevant post-graduate qualification in clinical pharmacy or equivalent experience is desirable. 


You will support the development and implementation of evidence-based pathways, audits, policies, procedures, treatment protocols and guidelines that promote patient safety and reduce the risk of harm from medications.


You will perform medication reviews and clinically check prescriptions, ensuring the appropriate, safe and legal supply of medicines, in line with national and local guidelines.


You will log near misses and incidents involving medication and support review and learning where required as follow up

Knowledge


Essential

  • UK Registered Pharmacist
  • Able to work unsupervised


Desirable

  • Higher degree or postgraduate qualification in clinical pharmacy up to a minimum diploma level (or equivalent experience)


Experience


Essential

  • Non-Medical Prescribing Qualification and annotation on GPhC register. 
  • Able to make judgements involving complex facts or situations which require analysis, interpretation and comparison of a range of options. 
  • Good computer skills to include Word, PowerPoint, Excel and the internet


Desirable

  • Post qualification experience in secondary care 
  • Relevant experience in prescribing.
  • Experience of using Semble clinical software

  • Good communicator, both verbally and in writing ability to communicate in a empathetic and reassurance way
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently.
  • Ability to support the team and be an effective team player
